The high altitude of the White Mountains makes this forested mountain range a popular getaway in the summer. However, the peaks become even more appealing when the autumn fireworks are shot into the night sky. The lush green of the woods and meadows are streaked with vibrant shades from the oak trees.

To make it to the top of the mountain and have a better view of the whole majestic scenery here, you start from Pinetop and take a little drive to the east. The curving pavement along the drive combines with the bright yellow pastures and the lake’s sparkling surface, which make for inspiring movie scenes. As you begin to go higher, you will be greeted with the sight of white-barked Aspens.

If you want to have a better vantage point of the surroundings, make a little detour to Greens Peak. On the highest part of all the rounded knolls located across the highlands, you will be able to witness the waves of color created by the Aspens. Right after that quick detour, continue on your drive along the road around the flank of Mount Baldy. There’s a 7-mile hiking trail joining the East and West Baldy Trail near the top.

Fall in Arizona is like living in a scene from one of your favorite romantic movies. Go for a nice short walk on the trail, and you will be able to glimpse the bright blazing color of the Aspens glaring like torches guiding you through the long grassy meadows.

Boyce Thompson Arboretum State Park

Intending to spend your fall in Arizona filled with lively music and drinks while gazing at the many colors of the Sycamore, Hackberry, Black Walnut, and Pistachio trees? Then Boyce Thompson Arboretum State Park is definitely the place for you.

Located near the town of Superior in Tonto National Forest, this park is the oldest and biggest botanical garden in Arizona. This 323-acre arboretum was founded in the 1920s by the mining magnate Colonel William Boyce Thompson. Also, it’s potentially the best place to take some relaxing strolls in Arizona.

Boyce Thompson Arboretum is beautiful and dazzling all year round, but only when fall comes can you walk through the Queen Creek Canyon while admiring nature’s beauty. As you do, you will notice the pure beauty of hundreds of species of trees from all around the world change color together. It’s truly a rare sight that you can only enjoy in a few handfuls of places on this planet.
